CentrePoint
CentrePoint is a new initiative at Highfields, designed to help bring our church family closer together. It is taking place once every four weeks on a Thursday night. For that week it will replace all the lifegroups, nexus and nexus 2, 20's and the youth bible study group. Instead all these groups and anyone else who wants to join, will meet together in the church to study and pray together. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to meet other people in the church, ie people who are not students!! Don't be worried about not knowing people, there will be lots of familiar and frinedly faces! First one is this thursday!

New start, new team......same focus!
Hello!
Welcome to the students at Highfields blog. This blog and more specifically this post, is here to inform you about what goes on here at Highfields church in Cardiff, for students! Highfields is committed to welcoming students into the church and bringing them into the church family. We have a full program for students, including specific student bible studies, a central church study and prayer time, student suppers after church on a Sunday evening....and much much more.
Our aim as a student team is to provide for our students a spiritual home whilst they are in Cardiff. This means somewhere where you are challenged and discipled as believers, somewhere where you can contribute to the church life and somewhere you will be loved, cared for and valued.
So what exactly do we do?
Sunday services
- 2 morning services, 09:30 & 11:15am. These are the same services so the only choice for you is which time is more convenient.
-Evening service, 6:30pm
Nexus.
This is the midweek student bible study, which takes place on a Tuesday night. We meet at 6.30pm for food.....i should make it clear at this point that placing a ministry apprentice in charge of the food could be a grave error, but hopefully he will have help and it will be superb!! After food there is a short talk followed by small group discussion and prayer. This is a really good opportunity to make good Christian friends, and to learn from the Bible together. We are studying Marks gospel this term. We aim to have finished by 8 or just after so there's plenty of time left in the evening to do other stuff! P.S. We do charge a £1 for the meal but lets face it your about to be given a huge whacking great interest free loan, you can cope!
Nexus2
This is a repeat of the Nexus bible study on Sunday afternoons at 5.30pm. This is there for those who can't make the normal time....unfortunately there is no meal provided but there is cake and coffee, so you really can't complain too much!
Student Suppers.
This is a time for students to meet together after the evening service on Sunday to chat, make friends etc etc Pizza and cake is provided for the cost of just one single pound coin.....see rant about student loans above!
Sunday lunch
As a student you will soon realise that free food is almost as good as free money. For that reason we are providing the opportunity for new students to get free dinner for the first 6 weeks of term!!! If I'm honest this is one of the best deals you could wish for! 2 of those weeks will be lunch in our church hall, and for the other 4, families in the church have offered to have you round for lunch!! Although this may sound a little daunting, its a great opportunity to meet real people, and by that I mean people who aren't students. Another undeniable bonus will be the chance to sit on a sofa, something you'll begin to miss when your living in halls! I feel as though I've rattled on enough about this, suffice to say, its awesome and you need to be at the 11.15am service to receive this generousity.
I think that's all the information you need for now, please come along and try our church, but much more importantly than that, please find a church that you can become a part of, that teaches the bible faithfully
we hope to see you soon
